A selection of prisoners who were held in the Tower of London during the month of February

Roderigo Lopez

Roderigo Lopez was a physician to Queen Elizabeth. He was imprisoned on 5th February 1594 accused of plotting to murder the Queen by poisoning. He was given a stay of execution on 18th April 1594 but was finally hanged, drawn and quartered at Tyburn on 7th June 1594.

William Daubeney

William Daubeney was a former clerk of King Edward IV's Jewels and was imprisoned 1th February 1495 for adhering to the pretensions of Perkin Warbeck. He was beheaded on Tower Hill on 3rd February 1495

Thomas Abelle

Thomas Abelle was a priest who was imprisoned in the Tower on 24th February 1534 for concealing knowledge of Elizabeth Barton's treasons (Mad Maid of Kent). He was hanged, drawn and quartered on 30th July 1540 at Smithfield London.

Queen Katherine Howard

Queen Katherine Howard was imprisoned in the Tower on 10th February charged with treason for her adulterous life. She was beheaded on Tower Green 13th February 1542

Jane Boleyn Viscountess Rochford

Jane Boleyn was imprisoned in the Tower on 9th February 1542 for concealing her knowledge of the love affair of Katherine Howard and Thomas Culpepper and arranging secret meetings between the Queen and her lover during the Royal Progress of the North. She was beheaded on Tower Green immediately after Katherine Howard and is buried in the Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula.
